Rockna Wavedream DAC with balanced configration
Rockna is a brand from Romania. Its designer Nicolea is the engineer behind many big brands, including PS Audio, MSB and Gawain. Rockna has made bold innovations in the architecture of the decoder. Most DACs only use a few common chips in the market for digital processing. To surpass ordinary DACs, WaveDream uses its own firmware program to process digital messages in real-time in parallel with an FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array). The direct line drives the MSB module to reduce jitter and avoid interference between lines. Opening the case shows that the line is extremely concise, which is in great contrast to the general decoding design.
In-house developed ultra-low jitter Digital Controlled Ocillator (DCO)
The WaveDream clock is designed for the overall digital processing solution. DCO is selected to support simple, direct and low jitter integrated signal processing. DCO can control any frequency from 32kHz to 3MHz and also reach 300fs jitter. DCO can also directly provide MSB requirements 3MHz clock speed. There is no need to generate the frequency required by the MSB module from the fixed frequency clock acid.
WaveDream can track the clock speed of the signal source and fine-tune the DCO to achieve the same clock speed as the signal source. With RAM Buffered Digital Phase Loop Lock (DPLL) to reduce the transmission jitter to a very low level, it can achieve the same signal without an external Reference Clock. Source synchronization, no need for ASRC, and no buffer overrun or under-run, avoiding the problems caused by ASRC (generally DAC uses Asynchronous Sample Rate Converter to solve the synchronization of the source and the internal clock), all of which are developed by ourselves FPGA Firmware processing.
